The Nortwest Motorfest is at the Expo Idaho Fairgrounds over the 4th of July weekend, so I dropped by to get a quick sound fix… This is a clip from the Autocross Slalom, put on by the Snake River SCCA (Sports Car Club of America). They set up a bunch of cones in the parking lot & let loose.

May 2009 – I worked with the Make A Wish Foundation on a wish for Mitchell Kohler… His wish was to direct & star in a movie, so they made a “Star Wars” fan film. The actors are from Mitch’s family and the 6th grade class at Rolling Hills Public Charter School in Boise, Idaho. I did the location sound mixing & recording for the feature, which starts at around 8:45 in… The first portion is a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the short movie. So, with the exception of a couple of cameo walk-ons, I wasn’t involved with the “making of” section.
The synopsis: Luke Piewalker’s family temporary tattoo parlor is destroyed by the evil Darth Waiter and he avenges the loss with a healthy food showdown at the chocolate-powered Dark Bar and Grill.
Equipment: Fostex FR2 recorder, Wendt X3 Mixer/Preamp,
Microphones: Sennheiser ME64 & ME66, Rode NT4, & Audio-Technica lavalieres.

In April I took a trip up through Craters of the Moon, over to Arco, and stopped in Twin Falls to record underneath the I.B. Perrine Bridge… This is a rather famous bridge- people regularly base jump off of it, and on the east side of the bridge (the south rim of the canyon) there is the dirt ramp used by Evel Knievel when he unsuccessfully attempted to jump the canyon on his motorcycle in 1974.

I couldn’t believe how much the bridge moved while I was underneath- 3-4″ worth of travel!

I have a couple of these old telephones around the house, so I recorded a couple of rings for a friend’s video production.
