Bringing in the birds

February 10th, 2009 Comments off

One thing I don’t like about winter is the fact that I can’t keep my windows open so I can listen to the birds at our feeders. So I rigged up an old Sony parabolic dish with one of the AT-ES947 boundary mics I have. I ran the mic into an extra Rolls MX34 mixer & out to a Roland MiniCube amp, which is sitting on our dining room sideboard. It almost makes it feel like spring!

Squirrel Wars

I’m staying close to home with a head cold, so I put my NT4 out on the back porch to record some of the prettier songbirds that have been at our feeders. I just settled down with a bowl of soup & my headphones when this squirrel war started up.

Well, I think they’re fighting for territory. Although, it could be a mating ritual (I’m not an expert on squirrel mating techniques, I’m just saying).
